MSE Sponsors 2008 Heritage Awards

Milton D. Sky Enterprises Pty Ltd is pleased to be a sponsor of the second Greater Taree City Council Biennial Heritage Awards will be held on Friday, 2 May 2008.

The Awards, hosted by Council, recognise the efforts of residents and businesses that value and conserve buildings of heritage significance. Any resident can nominate a building for the Awards, as long as the owner has provided their permission.

The Awards will recognise building conservation, good adaptive re-use or sympathetic extensions, judged by an expert panel of heritage professionals. The Award categories include commercial, public and residential buildings. Rural structures, such as barns, may also be nominated. Nominations will be received for items where all heritage works are completed. Judging will be based on how well the works have addressed the heritage character and qualities of the existing structure, the response to the site context and understanding of the heritage value.

The Greater Taree City Council Strategic Heritage Advisory Committee and its Built Environment Group are pleased to once again offer an Award trophy, designed by well-known local sculptor, Malcolm Wallace.

Another feature of the Greater Taree Biennial Heritage Awards will be the presentation of a separate Greater Taree City Council’s Heritage Advisors’ Award. Council’s Heritage Advisor, Lillian Cullen will award a prize to the best heritage project.

Nomination forms are available on Council’s website www.gtcc.nsw.gov.au or at the Planning and Building Counter in the Taree Administration Centre.

Milton D. Sky Enterprises Pty Ltd is pleased to congratulate Alan Abraham on winning the NSW JUNIOR LIFE SAVER OF THE YEAR AWARD for 2008.

After a long and rigorous selection process Alan, who is a member of the Old Bar-Taree SLSC, was named this year’s Junior Life Saver of the Year at the 2008 WESTPAC NSW Age Surf Life Saving Championships held at the weekend.

To make it to the State finals, Alan had to firstly impress their local Branch selectors. The criteria for final selection was based on the applicant’s active achievements across a number of areas. Their contributions to lifesaving, demonstration of leadership by instructing or assisting younger members in their Club activities and encouragement of new members were key areas that they were rated on. Also considered highly was their contribution to their Club, the awards they had received in Surf Life Saving and their promotion of Surf Life Saving to the community.

Alan is the son of very proud parents Rob & Donna Abraham. Rob is our Operations Manager here at Milton D. Sky Enterprises.

Alan was presented with his Award by Mr. Brett Harrod, President SLSNSW and Mr. Gary Chapman, SLSNSW Director of Member Services.
