Milton D. Sky Enterprises Pty Ltd is pleased to be a sponsor of the second Greater Taree City Council Biennial Heritage Awards will be held on Friday, 2 May 2008.
The Awards, hosted by Council, recognise the efforts of residents and businesses that value and conserve buildings of heritage significance. Any resident can nominate a building for the Awards, as long as the owner has provided their permission.
The Awards will recognise building conservation, good adaptive re-use or sympathetic extensions, judged by an expert panel of heritage professionals. The Award categories include commercial, public and residential buildings. Rural structures, such as barns, may also be nominated. Nominations will be received for items where all heritage works are completed. Judging will be based on how well the works have addressed the heritage character and qualities of the existing structure, the response to the site context and understanding of the heritage value.
The Greater Taree City Council Strategic Heritage Advisory Committee and its Built Environment Group are pleased to once again offer an Award trophy, designed by well-known local sculptor, Malcolm Wallace.
Another feature of the Greater Taree Biennial Heritage Awards will be the presentation of a separate Greater Taree City Council’s Heritage Advisors’ Award. Council’s Heritage Advisor, Lillian Cullen will award a prize to the best heritage project.
Nomination forms are available on Council’s website www.gtcc.nsw.gov.au or at the Planning and Building Counter in the Taree Administration Centre.
